History
Born July 25, 1977. Due to family circumstances, he lived alone from the age of 10, and started learning karate in junior high school. In 2000, after graduating from Nihon University College of Art, moved to the United States. For two years, he spent his time traveling North America by car, mining and hunting. In 2002, he started studying acting at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. In 2003, signed with an agent in New York. In the same year, he launched a performance group and performed in various parts of the East Coast. In 2005, his first Hollywood movie appearance was “The Departed” directed by Martin Scorsese. In the same year, he was cast in the general audition for the role of Captain Tanida, the main cast in the movie “Letters from Iwo Jima” directed by Clint Eastwood. After appearing in the movie, he suffered from speech impediment. Returned to Japan in 2007. Started his artistic activities in 2011, and after producing his first solo exhibition “Ikiru”, he recovered from his speech impediment. This work won the Encouragement Award at the Kawasaki City Art Exhibition. In 2014, he traveled around the world, including the Middle East.
In 2015, costume designer Kazuko Kurosawa asked him to create costumes for the movie “Sanada Ten Braves”, and those costumes were nominated for the 2017 Asian Film Awards Costume Award. In 2016, he created the costume for Shimoyama Denbei played by Ryohei Suzuki in the movie “Shinobi no Kuni”. In 2018, he produced the costumes for Nariakira Shimazu, who was played by Ken Watanabe in the NHK Taiga drama “Segodon”. Established MORIYA inc. in December 2018, opened an online gallery iiwii in June 2019, and held an iiwii exhibition in New York in July. In 2019, he held a solo exhibition “PEACE & PIECE”, and 25 paintings were sold out in 45 minutes at Creema Springs crowdfunding, and 25 additional paintings were sold out on the day. Since 2017, he has been the moderator of “Bachelor Japan” at Amazon Prime, “Bachelorette Japan” from October 2020. Since 2020, he has also been hosting corporate events and award ceremonies. In 2022, the first program “Bando Takumi no Open your Art” was aired on TBS radio. Currently, aura art, which captures the energy of people, places, and things and expresses it in paintings, is attracting attention.
